MILANO - Il Milan ha provato fino all'ultimo a regalare un centrale a Stefano Pioli un difensore centrale. L'obiettivo primario, scelto da Maldini e Massara, era Wesley Fofana. La coppia mercato rossonera aveva individuato nel classe 2000 il rinforzo ideale: giovane e pronto al grande salto. E alla fine il transalpino, nonostante la corte del Milan, è passato al Leicester, anche perché il club di via Aldo Rossi non è mai stato vicino a chiudere l'operazione anche per colpa del club inglese.

LA VARIANTE DEMIRAL - Infatti le "Foxes" stavano trattando Merih Demiral della Juventus, offrendo alla "Vecchia Signora" 35 milioni, bonus inclusi. E proprio il no incassato ha fatto cambiare obiettivo al Leicester che ha portato le proprie attenzioni su Fofana. Il manager inglese infatti ha sferrato l'attacco giusto che ha fatto cedere il Saint-Etienne, ex club del transalpino.
